Waiting for longed and "glad tidings" in 1621. Forgotten "prologue" to "Diary" by Prokop Zbigniewski
Keywords
Abstract
The specificity of the book containing Prokop Zbigniewski's diary is undoubtedly influenced by the introduction, preceding the main and main text of the report written by the soldier and participant of the war struggles on the Dniester. It clearly emphasizes the importance of this report appearing in the bookstore circulation, finally trustworthy and, what is even more important, providing "good news". Other - speculative, because "fallible" - reports lost the competition with the newly published "Diary", at least this is the thesis that can be read from the "prologue" announced in the title of this draft. ; This short "introduction", opened with the main title ("Adversaria abo terminata" [...]) and subtitles ("Protrepticon", "Syncretismus", then: "Terminata of war with the Turk"), allows us to capture the subtle nuance of the prevailing society, an atmosphere marked, to put it briefly, by fear. The unity of feelings and common concern for the fate of the nation and the state also document the strengthening of patriotism on an increasingly larger scale, which - and we observe this regularity once again - was strengthened, among others, thanks to words recorded in a procession of letters.
