Towards ”unity of inspirations and meanings”. On the manuscript ”Easter Vigil 1966” by Karol Wojtyła
Keywords
Abstract
The article discusses the original of the Karol Wojtyła’s poem Wigilia wielkanocna 1966 (Easter Vigil 1966), namely the manuscript stored in the Cracow Curia Archive. The main goal of the paper is to show basic directions of the Wojtyła’s work on the text of this poem. Detailed analysis of its autograph (varieties of the text, removals and other emendations) has proved that Wojtyła wanted to achieve the text cohesion and information precision but, on the other hand, he aspired to generalizing as well as avoiding the redundancy. Confronting the most popular edition of the Wojtyła’s poem (K. Wojtyła, Poezje, dramaty, szkice, Jan Paweł II, Tryptyk rzymski, introduction by M. Skwarnicki, Kraków 2004) with its original enabled me also to introduce a necessary emendation to the published version.
