Abstract
The question asked by Martin Heidegger applies to every pope, who in the modern world is often seen as a Don Quixote in a white cassock, fighting against the dragon of nihilism. In this sketch, I`m trying to present the fascination with the person of John Paul II, which was recorded in two books-interviews that Jan Grzegorczyk conducted with father Jan Góra OP: "Góra albo jak wyżebrać niebo i człowieka. Rady ojca Jana spisane przez Jana Grzegorczyka" (1999), "Święty i błazen" and "Jan Góra w odsłonach Jana Grzegorczyka" (2014) The Polish Dominican friar realized the teachings of John Paul II in his ministry, whom he consistently called John Paul the Great. The meetings of young people in Lednica, which were started by Father Góra, are a spiritual monument to his fascination with the Pope, whose teachings were for him a recipe for holiness. This essay, written after the death of Jan Góra, is an attempt to answer the question: who is John Paul II, according to Jan Góra?
